RAPTORS AND OWLS ~~ Sparrowhawk regular at EHF, one seen carrying prey at Maw Green on 20th ~ Kestrel regular at EHF/MGT ~ Buzzard regular in the SECOS area, several pairs displaying ~ Peregrine 2 at EHF on 20th ~ Osprey one over EHF on 27th ~ Little Owl one in a Barn Owl box at Railway Farm ~ Barn Owl one at Green Lane, Wistaston on 9th
GULLS AND TERNS ~~ LBB Gull 516 were at EHF on 7th ~ Y L Gull one at EHF on 19th ~ Iceland Gull a 1st winter was at EHF on 4th
OTHER SIGHTINGS ~~ a Whitethroat was at Stowford on 11th ~ MGT attracted Wheatears throughout the month with a remarkable 17 on 19th ~ at WLF, a Yellow Wagtail was present on 17th and the first Reed Warblers and Sedge Warblers were at MGT / GF on the same date ~ EHF held Blackcaps and Willow Warblers on 14th, Whitethroat on 17th, Lesser Whitethroat on 21st and Sedge Warblers on 23rd ~ 3 Reed Warblers were singing at WLF on 24th and a Grasshopper Warbler was reeling at MGT on 27th ~ a Little Egret was over EHF on the 19th and a Ring Ouzel was in a horse paddock at Elworth on 19th ~ Ravens were over EHF on the 11th and 13th and 2 White Storks were seen and photographed by members of staff on Leighton Hospital roof (unfortunately, no local birders managed to see these birds, however, 2 White Storks were recorded on Anglesey 2 days later)
