bike trekking' business.
Stop and check the stream in both directions. As you head up the slope towards an 'arch' in the bushes, look west towards the trees for Nuthatch, Tree Creeper and Woodpecker. Carry on up the track until you reach the next field boundary. There is a log bridge over the stream that runs along the field boundary, use that or the stile slightly further east to reach the next field. The footpath now follows the line of the bushes. Keep close to the side of the field, taking care again as the ground is likely to be soft and muddy. When you reach the end of the field, turn right up towards the farm buildings. Bear left past the fishing pond on your left, checking out the exotic birds in the enclosure beside the pond. The farm is also home to a Peacock. Turn right after the farm buildings, keeping the quad bike trekking cabin and a further fishing pond on your left.
As you enter the next field through a gate, turn sharp left. The footpath follows the line of the hedge. As you walk along it towards the M6 motorway, check out the copse in the field on your left for raptors - Sparrowhawk have bred there in the past. Walk under the log bridge and over the stile in the corner. Then out on to Radway Green Road and back towards the motorway junction.
As you walk down this 'final stretch', you have a number of options to get back to the car park:
·
turn right into Smithy Lane and retrace your steps
·
take the next right and retrace your steps across the fields for another chance to 'catch' the Garden Warbler
or
·
stay on Radway Green Road
