At Doddington this morning it was good to see the lapwing numbers have increased to 123 but even better to see 2 golden plover with them. Other birds include 1 snipe, 6 shoveler, 1 teal, 37 great crested grebe and 1 swallow. No sign of the osprey but I didn’t hang about too long.

Monthly visit to Wybunbury Moss this morning – female Sparrowhawk, male GS Woodpecker, singing Chiffchaff & flock of 10+ Mistle Thrush.
This afternoon at Elton Hall & Pump House Flash – Gadwall, Wigeon, single Snipe, singing Chiffchaff & bathing Linnet
Late afternoon in my garden – male GS Woodpecker on my peanut feeder; a very rare event. It was there long enough for me to grab my bins & take a closer look at it. I could make out some red feathers showing through its black crown. Hopefully this youngster makes my feeders a regular stop during the SECOS Garden Bird Survey that starts next month
