    Borrow Pit Meadows – 1100

    15+ Goldfinches.
    On the pool – 9 Mallards, Canada Goose and a kingfisher flying down the pool and out of sight!!!

    At Doddington this morning a variety of hirundines with around five each of sand martin, house martin and swallow with over 20 swifts later; egyptian goose 2 and a little egret still present and 2 imm shelduck flew in, one stayed and one quickly moved away. 3 oystercatchers but no signs of a juv (hopefully with the missing adult)

    At Doddington this morning, a fluffy oystercatcher chick on the sheep field being protected from a passing crow by its parents, reed warbler and sedge warbler, one of each singing in the reed beds by the SC , ID’d after careful listening and confirmed by Merlin; also kingfisher, little egret, egyptian goose, little grebe 4

    At Doddington last Thursday 13th 3 common sandpiper on the island, 2 sedge warblers singing and a pair of little grebes on the back pool with a brood of large juvs and a new brood of small juvs.

    Osprey over Doddington this morning,it had a few attempts to fish before drifting off to the north.Just as we were leaving it came in again,5 years since our last one there.Also L.Egret,Egyptian Geese and an Oystercatcher chick in a very precarious position.

    12+ House Martins over, 2 Greenfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Song Thrush, 2 Chiffchaff, 15+ Goldfinches feeding on thistles, female Teal still,
    sub adult Robin

    Nantwich Lake – 1500
    35+ Canada Geese, Grey Heron, 2 Mute Swans with 5 well grown cygnets, 170+ Mallards

    On pool :- 4 Mallards, Canada Goose, female Teal and a Grey Heron

    A couple of new arrivals at Doddington this morning,Common Sand on the island and 2 Egyptian Geese along the wood.Still 6 Oystercatchers with one still sitting on one egg in the sailing club.The other nest in the ploughed field was disturbed when the crop was sown.The second Pied Wagtail family of the season also around the club.

    no view of the lapwing chicks at Doddington this morning but two adults still by the island so hopefully the juvs were just not showing. Also no sign of the brood of tufted seen on the back pool last week. A hybrid goose with canadas looking like an imm Ross’s goose actually looked quite smart

    A Redshank resting on the island at Doddington this morning but no sign of the Lapwing juvs,the adults still present though.Our first Kingfisher of the year here briefly across the pool.

    Kingfisher Perched on this side of the river, then flying upstream to the road bridge; also flying downstream from the park entrance bridge
    Grey Wagtail Adult feeding immature; also opposite the buddleias
    Dipper Adult standing on some rubble.
