At Doddington this morning on a beautiful bright cold and sunny day. 24 species recorded on a WeBS count but the duck numbers continue to be low, the highest being 16 teal. The usual autumn peak of great crested grebes was at 76 two weeks ago but down to just 14 now. The stonechat was showing well in the sunshine, perched on the tops of the juncus reeds and feeding. Also nice to see a kingfisher.

Another very quiet morning at Doddington today with the only good birds being a male pintail and a female goosander but it looks like the g.c grebes have formed the usual autumn increase in numbers with a total of 71 today.
